Terms of use
Last updated: 19 October 2026
LOCALA (locala.in) is a free website where people in Kannur district post things to sell, services they offer and local deals, and buyers contact them. By using LOCALA you agree to these terms, our privacy policy and our posting rules.
1. What LOCALA is, and is not
LOCALA is a notice board. It is an intermediary under India's Information Technology Act, 2000. We do not own, sell, inspect, deliver or guarantee anything listed. Every deal is between the buyer and the seller. We do not handle payments, and we are not part of any agreement you make with another user.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to post or contact sellers.
- You sign in with Google, Facebook or your email address (WhatsApp sign-in is coming later). Keep that account secure. You are responsible for what is done with your LOCALA account.
- Give true information. Don't pretend to be someone else.
3. Posting a listing
- You must own, or have the right to sell, what you list, and the item or service must be legal in India and Kerala.
- Your listing must be honest: real photos, a fair description, and the true price. Deal prices must be real discounts.
- Follow the posting rules. We may remove any listing that breaks them, without notice.
- You keep ownership of your photos and text. You allow LOCALA to show them on the site and in shared links for as long as the listing is up.
- Listings expire after 60 days unless you renew them.
4. Contacting other users
Use the phone numbers and chat only to talk about the listing. Don't send spam, harass anyone, or collect numbers to use elsewhere. Meet in a public place, check the item before you pay, and never pay in advance to someone you don't know.
5. Businesses and orders
- Businesses on LOCALA are run by their owners, not by LOCALA. The business sets its prices, decides whether to accept an order, and is responsible for the goods, their quality, delivery and any refund.
- When you place an order, it is an agreement between you and the business. You pay the business directly (for example in cash or by UPI). LOCALA does not take payments or a commission.
- The business sees your name, phone number, delivery address and note so it can prepare the order. Give true details, and only place orders you mean to collect or receive.
- You can cancel an order until the business starts preparing it. After that, contact the business. If you often cancel orders the business has already accepted (3 within 30 days), ordering is paused on your account until you contact support.
- Business owners must follow the business rules, show true prices, and keep their business details, including any FSSAI licence for food, correct. We may hide or suspend a business that breaks them.
6. What we can do
To keep LOCALA safe we may hide listings, remove content, limit features, or suspend or ban accounts that break these terms or the law, or that other users report. If the law requires it, we may share information with the police or a court. We may change or stop parts of the site at any time.
7. Liability
LOCALA is provided "as is". We are not responsible for the quality, safety or legality of anything listed, for what users say or do, or for any loss from a deal between users. As far as the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to ₹1,000.
8. Complaints and grievances
To report a listing, use the Report button on it. For any other complaint, including content you believe is unlawful or infringes your rights, contact our Grievance Officer. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, as required by the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
